ASUS Transformer 32GB 3G - 3G-capable tablet with excellent keyboard dock

The 10.1in ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101 32GB 3G has only recently hit Australian retailers, and for $661 it’s fairly priced considering the strong feature set. As the name might suggest it has 32GB of flash storage and comes with 3G functionality, a high-end combination in the tablet market. Of course the Transformer also comes with the keyboard dock that this tablet has become renowned for, which provides both a boost in battery life and a very useable (if small) keyboard.

In addition to 3G the Transformer has Bluetooth 2.1 and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, ensuring good connectivity in any environment. There’s good physical connectivity as well, with the tablet itself having a Mini-HDMI port, a headphone jack and a Micro SD card reader. The keyboard dock expands your options even more, providing a pair of USB 2.0 ports and an SD card reader. While 32GB of flash storage is generous for a tablet, having both an SD card and a Micro SD card reader is certainly very welcome.

The 10.1in (1,280 x 800 resolution) capacitive screen has good colour vibrancy and wide viewing angles. Much as with the strong port variety, there’s an equally strong set of hardware features. The Transformer has front and rear cameras, stereo speakers and an in-built microphone.
